The Joy of Frogging

Long, long ago, in a galaxy far, far away, I had a friend I had started an afghan for. Eventually misunderstandings were had and feelings were hurt, and if our respective lives hadn’t changed so much and so quickly, we might have overcome that. Instead, I’ve had the first skein-worth of that afghan sitting around for the last 5 years.

I started frogging it last night.

I feel sad, of course, but lighter somehow for acknowledging that it just isn’t ever going to be finished.

  1. I hear you on the frogging. Years ago I made an afghan for my mother out of beige, forest green, plum, and a variegated of those same colors. I started a second afghan of the variegated that I had left over and then had to buy some more. Of course, it’s not the same dye lot. So I told her Saturday that I think I’m going to have to steal it back from her, frog it, find some other yarn to mix in, or make it into granny squares. I just can’t stand the way it looks now. Any thoughts?

  2. I’d probably rip it and add some colors, or use it for granny centers and add some colors. If you’re feeling really masochistic, you could always turn it all into yo-yo’s and start a collection toward an afghan. *angelic grin*

  3. Hmmm….I’ve never done a yo-yo before. That does sound masochistic.
