Yay!!!

Sold my first pattern this morning.

God, I hope she likes it.

Progress.

Pattern? Finished. Another project, too. Trying to figure what to do next. Hard to get photos tomorrow, I’ll be gone during the good light. Maybe just dishcloths. I don’t have to concentrate so hard to make dishcloths. I wish I had time to work on more pattern-y stuff right now…I really enjoyed refining and finishing that first one. Ah, well. The work will be slowing, not stopping, for a while, but I’ll sure as anything get back to it.

Off to bed, before I make any less sense.

Exhausted.

Between all of the car drama this week and a couple of good nights of sleep, I’ve got all I can do to stay awake today. You know how when you’ve been sleeping badly for a while and you get a night of really deep sleep it makes you feel really, really tired all over again? Oh, yeah. It cooled off quite a bit here and it’s just been awesome. I’m so ready for summer-summer to be over. I love summer-fall, and I think it’s here. Been able to feel it in the air for a few days now…the heat comes back, on and off, but you can tell it just came over for coffee and has no intention of spending the night.

Sheesh. What a mangled metaphor.

Work-wise, I just finished a custom order (which I really, really hope she likes), I’m within some computer tricks of having my first pattern complete and ready to sell, and I’ve got another item or two or so that can go up, and a couple of things to re-photograph for relisting later. I’d like to have a few things ready for when I go back to the shop after the birth. There’s another potential custom job pending, too. I can’t believe how busy I’ve become with all of this or how happy it’s making me. I am really, truly loving what I’m doing. And that might just be one of the best feelings there is.

Housework-wise, I need to abandon this post and go mop the kitchen floor before it gets any warmer today. Oh, yay. The living room is trashed at this point, too since we’ve been eating in here. The kitchen table has become a computer lab of sorts. Which is fine and dandy. I actually rather expected it…the husband’s got way, way more computer equipment than is going to fit even in a reconfigured version of his office. It’s just inconvenient. But inconvenient can move in if it pays the bills…

Midwife tomorrow. I always get nervous for these because I feel like they’re just looking for an excuse to evict the little one. Luckily, I’m seeing the calmest gal in the whole group. Then Friday morning it’s pre-op at the hospital, and Monday morning we’re having a baby.

So I’m off, I guess, to start blasting through the list of things that have to be done before then…

10 days to go.

Must be time for a WIP/to do list. I don’t want to forget anything before my hands become too busy holding the baby to pick up a hook. :D I don’t think it’s going to be an overly long break, but so much will depend on the temperament of the little one…the first I held constantly for months, the second couldn’t wait to be put down. So who really knows what I’m getting myself into here? LOL. Anyway, to be finished:

green/white cloth in progress
–pattern in progress
–photograph rest of finished projects
daisy square Going in the mail in the morning! (Note to self, K, RHSS.)
–possibly make more cloths…I have lovely cotton for them already…
–custom order! Yay!

Hmm…I feel like I’m forgetting something. I suspect I’ll be adding to the list…but at least it’s here. Because my brain is like a steel, er, sieve right now…

It’s been a huge day here. Huge!

I made my first sale on Etsy.

And I finally got my first 5 squares in the mail for this project:

Share a Square

I’m hoping to be able to contribute a few more here and there over the coming months. I just can’t promise a thing with the baby on the way. I think it’s a great project, though, and the more people she can get squares from, the better, so if you’re out there and squarely inclined at all, you might want to drop a few in the mail.

The other project I’ve got going on outside the shop is to get at least one square made for Krystal as promised. I’ve just got to get the size right…

Sorry I’ve been so quiet…

I just haven’t had a lot to say.

It’s been hot…like hide in our single air-conditioned room hot. And when it isn’t, I’ve been frantically trying to catch up with the housework. I’ve got a maximum of two weeks before this baby gets here and I’m getting a little stressed.

I made my first sale last week…a custom order that I think turned out pretty well. The person who bought it seemed thrilled, too, and I hope she still likes it as well after having a chance to use it.

I’m still stuck in dishcloth-making mode, though I’ve got a couple of other things brewing, too. It’s frustrating because my head is just full of ideas and I just don’t have the time to execute them. I should make detailed notes so that I can pick this back up in a couple of months. It’s going to be slow of necessity around here for a bit, given that newborns are cuddly things. (And it’s wonderful that they are! It’s just that I need two hands to crochet…lol).

Anyway, more when I get a chance. It’s bearable today, so I’m working through the laundry backlog. Fun stuff. :D

I am clearly on a housewares binge.

Coasters, coasters, and more coasters, followed by dishcloths, and soon more coasters. With a brief break as soon as the supplies arrive to make a special order, which they should today. I ordered some more thread for me along with the thread for the order, so thready things will probably take over once housware-sy things have been exhausted.

It’s the cotton. I am having an absolute love affair with cotton yarn. I love how it looks, I love how it feels, I love how it works up, I love the colors it comes in, I love how sturdy it is, and I love that I can afford to work with it. Looooooove.

I’m sure I’ll get back to the creature creating before long, if only so that I have some to put in a show that’ll be happening in January (though they’re so much fun their time will no doubt come again anyway), but I suspect when I do they’ll be entirely made of cotton.

It’s just that good.

Finally! Shop stuff!

I finally managed to finish some more goodies for the shop. I’ve been mad about cotton lately, and simple stitches and wild color combinations, and so there’s a set of coasters there that I just love and several more coming. I absolutely love how simple and functional and eye-catching these things are, and I’ve got a set I’ve been using around the house and they’re just wonderful.

I’d be working on more but that I’ve got to do *something* toward cleaning this house up a bit before it gets really disgustingly hot later this afternoon. Ah, summer. :)

I love New England!

I was going to add some stuff to the store this morning, but it’s raining unexpectedly (!) and it’s far too dark to get credible pictures.

So I suppose I’ll make more stuff instead. Not that that’s a *bad* thing…

Yet another odd weekend.

Sounds like a blog name. LOL.

We were supposed to do a yard sale yesterday and didn’t. I needed to pick up the Harry Potter book so I went hunting for the thread to do a special order with while I was out. I only managed to lay hands on one color I’d need (and white), so I’m going to have to order the other, which is (of course!) leading to a teeny crisis of sorts, because shipping and handling is weird and I can’t figure out how to work the ordering so that it doesn’t give me a headache. I’ll be ordering it today, though, whatever I decide, so that I’ll have plenty of time to get this done before the baby makes his appearance. If he waits until he’s scheduled to, anyway…

More troubling is that Michaels is apparently about to redo their yarn section. They were already ripping it apart at the first one I went to. And I’m not liking what they’ve done so far, though we’ll have to see what’s what when they’ve finished. It looks, though, like one of the things they’re doing is cutting their selection of crochet thread in half. Cebelia is gone, except in white and ecru. At least they still had more than one size of those. *sigh* The second one I went to had the colors on clearance. I also picked up some clearance Sugar ‘n Cream in the big 12 oz skeins. I’d have loved to grab one of every color, but I restrained myself. 5 bucks. 5 bucks! And I couldn’t manage more than three without invoking the credit gods, and they have a job to do getting thread at Joann’s online today so I didn’t dare.

Did I say *sigh*?

So that all turned into a pretty extensive trip. I took the kids with me and they were, for whatever reason, absolutely angelic. Go figure.

So I got home, tried to figure out how to order most cost-effectively for a while, and when that got frustrating, dived into the Potter book and read pretty much non-stop through to the end. And I liked it. And that makes me very, very happy.

So today I’ve got to finish a couple of things I have pending for the shop, and do the cleaning I’ve been threatening to do while it’s reasonably cool, and do that ordering, and…I’m sure I’m forgetting something, but it ought to be busy. I’ve still got stash to detangle, charity squares to send out, and a couple of shop descriptions to add metric measurements to, too. Oh, and a squiggle to finish and figure out how to fix. So yeah. I’m scarce. And that’s before factoring in that I’m doing this all at half-speed, because this baby will be here no later than four weeks from tomorrow…

I’m tired just thinking about it. Also insanely happy. Those things tend to go together for me, weirdly enough.
