More from Maine

While in Maine, I also:

–Picked a stitch for the new design I just couldn’t find a blasted stitch for. Unfortunately, I think said stitch might just use too much yarn to be practical in the application I wish to use it in. I need to swatch again and get a good yardage estimate.

–Helped my partner replace the pullcord on the generator. This involved a crochet hook and needlenose pliers. Couldn’t have done it without the crochet hook. I’m handy to have around, lol.

–Discovered my inner little old lady. I found myself sitting in a rocking chair, knitting by gaslight. And I was happy.

Off to Maine…

Where I will hopefully get some work done this weekend. I’m primarily bringing along design projects. I really need to get rolling on these before the ideas get stale in my head.

Of course, there are other things to be done, and I’m supposed to be relaxing on top of it, but sometimes the best relaxation is to let my mind run where it will. And lately it’s full of yarn and hooks. 🙂

There’s a buzzing in my head.

Design ideas always seem to come in bunches. I’ve been happily crocheting piles of granny squares for a while now, happily toodling along in totally-recreational-crochet land, and sometime in the last few weeks designs started to sneak up on me again. It was a little bit stealthy at first…I pulled out yarn to work on an idea I had been toying with a couple of years ago, before my life got a bit frantic and I lost the threads of the things I was working on. And playing with that made me think of this, and that made me flash on the other, and all of a sudden I’m sitting on the bed with swatches and skeins all around me, fighting to stay awake and see if I can figure out that last issue that’s keeping the thing from *working,* damn it….

Not sure how I’m going to make the time to bring these to life, but I’ve been doing this long enough to know that I have to. Inspiration comes in it’s own time, and if it’s that time, it’s that time. Nothing you can do but run with it.

New Free Pattern!

Here!

…and we’re back, I hope…

It’s been a crazy few months, but we’re ready here to start again with new designs and plenty of other goodies. for starters, check these guys out: Snowpeople.

This the the same pattern I used to make these little guys and gals.

I apologize for the lack of front-page pics, but I’ve been having image-uploading issues and haven’t gotten a chance to play with flickr recently. Hopefully all of that will be fixed soon, along with an updated blogroll and some other upgrades.

Between the Lines now available!

My new scarf pattern is finished, and I’m working on getting it posted at Etsy and Ravelry and here as well. It’s my oldest daughter’s birthday today, so I’ve been taking time out for the festivities. I’ll update this post when I’ve got it posted everywhere. In the meantime, here’s a pretty pic:

Update: It’s now posted for sale on Ravelry, on Etsy, and right here at the site.

Many thanks as always to Tracie at The Crochet Studio for testing for me (and listening to me talk and talk and talk about it!).

I’m beat. More later, and I hope y’all love this pattern the way that I do!

Blog, Interrupted

I know, I know…you can’t tell I’m any scarcer than usual around here, but I can. Had three sick kids last week, sick me yesterday, plus the job, plus a possible move coming up if we can’t pull off a near-miracle money-inventing trick in the next week. So it’s on the frantic side.

I’ve been making time to work on patterns, though, for my sanity’s sake as much as anything. Have another almost ready to go to testing, so hopefully it won’t be more than a couple of weeks before it will be ready. It’s a different sort of thing than I’ve been doing, so it’s moving more slowly than I might have wished. There’s another dishcloth in the pipeline, too. This one’s pretty simple, so with any luck it’ll be available in the next week or so.

Back soonest.

Another Etsyversary Moment.

One year from my very first sale, I’ve sold 230 items on Etsy. That’s a hell of a thing, isn’t it? I’m shocked, and pleased beyond belief. I seem to have wound up focusing on patterns, which wasn’t my original intention, but I’m thrilled with the way that it’s working out. I love doing this. I love it more than I can quite explain, although the fact that I get up an hour early every morning to make time for it might be a reliable indicator. Heh. But seriously? For me there’s nothing quite like it in the world.

It’s going to be another great year. Thanks, y’all.
