Catching up.

Well then. I certainly wasn’t expecting to take quite that much of a break. Silly life, always getting in the way of my better intentions!

I’ve been absolutely blasting through my pile of UFOs, so there ought to be some yummy stuff in the shop in the next week or so. Mostly dishcloths of one variety or another, and at least one pattern that should be ready to list at Etsy and on Ravelry tomorrow. So it’s going to be quite an exciting week that way.

I’ve also been managing to finish off some little side projects of my own, mostly of the knitting-is-fun variety. Eventually I’ll have FO pics to share, but I’ve got to clean off the camera first.

Also? Tracie from Shade Tree Crochet has been pattern testing for me and I have to tell you all that she is absolutely the most fantastic person to work with! I almost don’t want to tell you how awesome she is because I want to keep her awesomeness all to myself, lol. Seriously, though, thank you, Tracie! You’re incredible. 🙂

And I think that’s about it for the moment. If you don’t hear from me for another little while, I’ve jumped on the looking-for-a-day-job wagon, so things are a little busy that way, too. If anybody needs an admin type virtually or in SE Mass, let me know!

See you soon.

I just keep getting behinderer.

Thanks for your patience. My seven-month-old son had a weird allergic reaction a little over a week ago, so we’ve been running around in even more frantic circles than usual here trying to get him sorted out. We’ve got enough of a handle on things now to get back to normal (whatever that is, anyway!) so here’s an update on the crochet front:

First off, the pattern that I’ve been vaguely talking about since time began: almost done. I’ve been working on it so long I’m not sure how I feel about it any more, quite honestly, so when I’ve got the (hopefully) final version made all the way up, I’ll be getting in touch with folks who expressed an interest in testing. It’s a couple-few hours worth of work with RHSS, so if there’s anyone else out there who’s curious, let me know. If we can all stay reasonably healthy, this should be happening this week.

Secondly…oh, goodness, I know there was a secondly. I’ve been interrupted 5-ish times in the last paragraph, so I’m not sure what else I was going to write about. This is why folks sometimes get e-mail from me at 2 in the morning. It’s the only time I have the peace and quiet to get anything done! LOL.

More when I catch up with myself a bit more…

Sorry for the little lapse in posting.

Liable to be slow here this week…I had all sorts of goodies lined up but life had other plans.

Back soonest.

It’s been a silly week.

So not much crocheting going on here. Working on some dishcloths for the shop, and another pattern that needs tidying-up and testing (any would-be testers in the audience?).

How ’bout you?

Monday again already?

Yikes.

It’s going to be a busy week here. I’m anticipating finishing up several design projects that I’ve got hanging and sprucing up the Etsy shop for spring just a bit. (Not to mention dealing with the backlog of housework from having been sick over the weekend.) So I’ve got to get away from the computer and do it.

Might as well check in with the Finish-Along before I go, though. Not much finished, more abandoned edition:

1 magic scarf…I’m still working on the first pattern repeat. Of course, I just started last night. Heh. On hold indefinitely because I just.can’t. justify. knitting time right now. Probably on its way to the frog pond, but I’m not quite ready yet…

1 Irish Hiking Scarf, which despite having been frogged still makes the list because I’ve started it twice already and I WILL make the dratted thing, since it’s lovely and fun. Abandoned to the whims of my pocketbook. It’s yarn diet time, hardcore. No going out to pick up yarn and needles for this one.

1 log cabin ‘ghan (starter panel done) Abandoned to the baby, who is using it as a teether.

1 small rectangle granny ‘ghan (maybe 1/4 done, at the outside) Finished!

1 giant granny gift ‘ghan (probably 1/6 of the way into it) Put away in a corner until I stop hating the recipient again. Never make for family. It gives you headaches.

1 Monster

3 small freeform projects

1 freeform project not yet started for submission

1 yellow pouch

2 1 little design projects

1 “fishy fishy”

and the design project that’s been costing me what hair hasn’t been leaping off my head of its own accord (oh, the joys of childbearing, lol)…not quite finished, but probably a single iteration therefrom!

Not too bad, I think.

Long Week.

I would absolutely *love* to be updating here more often, but we’ve got so much going on in my household right now it’s just insanely difficult. By the end of the day I’m too exhausted to write anything that makes any sense.

One more run-though on that design, I think, and it’ll be ready for testing. I have one out for testing right now that the feedback is starting to come in on, too. So in the pattern category, we’re making pretty big progress.

In the stuff-I’m-making-up-as-I-go-along category, I’m really happy with one project I just started and really unhappy with the scarf I’ve already put a considerable amount of work into. I think that’s going to get ripped back and redone. And I’m not sure how I’ll need to handle the yarn at that point, so I’m a bit exhausted at the thought of it. I see possibly re-skeining and washing and making a ball out of it in my future. Which wouldn’t be such a pain if it wasn’t sock yarn and I wasn’t without appropriate tools. Still, though, we’ll see.

I think I’ve found my problem with knitting, which is that the projects I’ve chosen aren’t anywhere near hard enough. No challenge = boring = knitting? Why do people *do* this? So I’m going to have to find something that will make me crazy to do. Right now I’m leaning toward jumping right into lace. Of course, this will have to wait until I have a few dollars I can spend on appropriate supplies, which may be a while. But I’m not giving up on knitting until I’ve tried something insanely hard and still feel meh about it. I really think I won’t, at that point.

Also? I’m one of the three people on the planet who *likes* to purl. Heh.

And that’s about it for the moment. More details when I can provide them. 🙂

The great destash of ’08. All sold! Thanks so much!

At least, this better be the only one! LOL. Actually, it’s kind of nice to sort out what you know you’re not likely to use every once in a while. Makes you feel lighter, somehow. 🙂

Le sigh.

I think the time has probably come to start selling off some of the yarn and thread that I don’t have immediate plans for. It’s crunch time around here…don’t you love February? LOL. This year it isn’t the fault of an overdone Holiday, it’s just life playing catch-up with us. I haven’t decided whether to post it here or at the ‘ville or in my shop. Stay tuned…

Poor blog.

The awesome thing is that I’m running my behind off because the shop is busy. Yay! It’s been steadily taking over the time I had set aside for everything else, though. Good problem to have.

Today’s agenda: finish a pattern I’ve been working on. Silly to have willing tester(s) and no pattern. Maybe a run to Joann’s/Michael’s, since both have Sugar ‘n’ Cream on sale this week and my big order of it won’t be here for another few days. Keep the kids out of the husband’s hair so he can work. Laundry.

Pretty average Sunday. 😀

I am SO exciting!

Totally spending New Year’s Eve playing with yarn and poking around Ravelry. I’ve been so slow to really use and appreciate that site. Have to take some pics and add projects soon.

I’m also working on a design that’s a rethinking of another design of mine, and it’s looking like it’ll wind up combining knit and crochet. Oooooh, heresy. But really? I think they play well together in this context, make things more interesting. We’ll see how it goes. I’ve done about 12 crocheted versions in the last week and I just wasn’t loving any of them. Heresy! LOL.

Of course, I got the Harmony Stitch Guides for crochet for Christmas, so the needles might be getting mighty lonesome pretty soon here. 😀

Er, back to it. Carry on. Something like that!
